Im Anfang schuff Gott das Gewässer und die Erde &c. Und der Geist Gottes schwebet auff dem Wasser &c. sagt der Text. Da dann der Allerhöchste das Licht / auch folgends und andern Tags die Feste / und zwar durch das Wort: Fiat! erschaffen / und vermittelst solcher / wie erst gemelt / durch das Wort: Fiat! erschaffenen Feste (nicht aber durch sothanes Wort: Fiat! selbst) die Wasser von einander geschieden: Inmassen der Text deutlich und clar sagt: Und Gott sprach: Es werde eine Feste zwischen dem Wassern / und die sey ein Unterschied zwischen den Wassern. Da machet GOtt die Feste / und scheidet das Wasser under der Festen / von dem Wasser über der Festen &c. Dahero ein anders ist scheiden / ein anders ist schaffen;

Candida Phoenix Philosophica: Part I — Theorem V

15–16

“In the beginning God created the waters and the earth,” and “the Spirit of God hovered upon the water,” says the text. Then the Most High created light, and subsequently, on the second day, the firmament, through the word Fiat, “Let it be.” Through that firmament, created—as just said—by Fiat, rather than through the word Fiat itself, he separated the waters. For the text says clearly: “And God said: Let there be a firmament between the waters, and let it make a distinction between the waters. Then God made the firmament and separated the water below the firmament from the water above the firmament,” and so forth. Hence separating is one thing, creating another.
