The anonymous Frankfurt edition of 1680, published by Christian Hermsdorff, is presented here with its original text and a new English translation. The introduction, explanatory notes, reading guide, outline and glossary are editorial additions. Printed source pages and stable passage identifiers allow the original and translation to be compared closely.

The chosen witness is the Wellcome Library copy digitized as b32993456. Its two parts are continuously paginated through page 245 and followed by fifteen unnumbered pages of registers. The title Candida Phoenix philosophica is rendered The White Philosophical Phoenix.
