XLIV–LXIII: Creation, Separation and the Third Way · Modern English
Original English
LIV. In case the Earth should be totally destroy'd by the violent external Heat, althô it is most certain, you cannot carry on our noble Creation any farther with it; yet if you know how to amalgamate our Mercury simplex with your common Gold, which is dissolved, vivify'd, and renew'd by it, you may be sure of effecting the Great Elixir, althô neither so quick, so natural, nor so rich, as you might have done without it. And this is our third way.

LIV. If the earth should be entirely destroyed by violent external heat, it is most certain that you cannot carry our noble creation any further with it. Yet, if you know how to amalgamate our simple mercury with your common gold, which it dissolves, brings to life and renews, you may be sure of making the great elixir—though neither so quickly, so naturally nor so richly as you might have done without it. This is our third way.
