XXVIII–XLIII: Water, Fire and Preparation · Grand Elixir · Aphorism XXXVI
Original English
XXXVI. If the Caput Mortuum has not the Magnetic Quality in attracting the Spiritus Mundi into it self from the Astrums, it is a sign, that at the end of the Distillation of the red Oil the outward fire was so violent, as quite to burn up the Magnet, which is contain'd in the first Feces of our Mercurial Water.
Modern English
XXXVI. If the dead head lacks the magnetic quality of attracting the spirit of the world into itself from the stars, it is a sign that the outward fire at the end of the red oil’s distillation was so violent that it entirely burnt up the magnet contained in the first residues of our mercurial water.
