XI. Such a metallic vapour, congealed and nourished in the earth’s depths, is called the philosophers’ undetermined Green Dragon; and when it charms the Serpent with the beauty of its internal and additional fire, it is called their determined Green Dragon. Without true knowledge and correct handling of it, nothing can be done in our art.
