LXIV–LXXIX: Principles and the Herculean Works · Modern English

Original English

LXXIX. All our Work of the Creation from its very Beginning to its perfect End may, on our certain knowledg, be perfected in less than nine Months by any skilful and careful Artist, that follows our Rules, unless some Accident should happen in the Preparation of our Herculean Works: which to prevent, we wrought them our self in an earthen Vessel, which we count far better and surer than any Glass, and which is most agreeable to the Practice of the most ancient Philosophers.

Modern English

LXXIX. To our certain knowledge, the whole work of creation, from its very beginning to its perfect end, may be completed in less than nine months by any skilful and careful artist who follows our rules, unless some accident occurs in preparing our Herculean works. To prevent this, we worked them ourselves in an earthen vessel, which we consider far better and more reliable than any glass vessel, and which agrees most closely with the practice of the most ancient philosophers.
