Original English

XXII. If Myrrh, Aloes, and Saffron, of each an equal Quantity, are put into this Menstruum, the truest Elixir Proprietatis (as Paracelsus terms it) which is a most excellent Cordial, and almost of as great Efficacy and Virtue, as the Universal Elixir it self, in curing all curable Distempers, will presently swim on the Top, and its Caput Mortuum will separate it self into the Bottom.

Modern English

XXII. If equal quantities of myrrh, aloes and saffron are placed in this menstruum, the truest elixir of properties, as Paracelsus calls it, will immediately float on top, while its dead residue separates at the bottom. This is a most excellent cordial, almost as efficacious and powerful as the universal elixir itself in curing all curable illnesses.
