Sources and References
The original dictionary pages are unnumbered. Historical source therefore gives the dictionary page counted from its first page of definitions and the corresponding PDF sequence page in the Getty facsimile. The first definition page is PDF page 329; the last is PDF page 376. The separate title is PDF page 327, followed by its blank reverse at 328. These numbers identify the consulted digital witness and are not original printed page numbers.
A citation using s.v. means under the headword named. A comparison to another article points to that article’s own complete definition and checked source location. Stable CD identifiers keep these references consistent across PDF, Word, EPUB, Markdown and the separate Lexicon records. Electronic links supplement, rather than replace, the written locator.
Where a textual note quotes a defective reading, that reading belongs to the historical printing. The modernised definition and the new explanation can use a corrected form when its treatment is stated. The note gives the reader a way to assess the decision. A new interpretive sentence is always placed in the editorial sections, not silently inserted into the historical text.
